Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil has been lecturing at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia since 1990. He holds a degree in Shar’ia and Law (Hons) from the University of Malaya. In 1993, he was awarded a degree of LLM from University of London where he did his Master of Laws at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). He returned back to his alma mater for his PhD and successfully completed his study in 2006. His areas of interest are: Constitutional law, Shari’a and Civil law conflict, Islamic law of Human Rights, Islamic Criminal law and Islamic Law of Transactions. He has written numerous articles on these subjects in various journals/magazines/newspapers locally and internationally. He has also produced a book on Islamic law published by iBOOK 2006. He has also written chapters in books published in Malaysia, England and Egypt. He has also presented enormous papers at seminars and conferences locally and internationally. He has been invited to give talks in various occasions. He has been interviewed by local and international newspapers and magazines in various subjects especially in the area of freedom of religion and apostasy. Currently, he is Assoc. Prof. at the Centre for Islamic Thought and Understanding (CITU), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam. He was the Coordinator for Minor and Elective Programmes at CITU from 2006–2011 and later became the Head of Programme for Minor, Elective and Postgraduate Studies from 2011–2012. He is also a Fellow at Accounting Research Institute (ARI), UiTM the sole HiCoE in UiTM. He was awarded the Fulbright Visiting Award by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), Washington, DC, USA in 2007 where he spent his expertise at several places in Massachusetts, including that of Harvard University in February-March 2007.
